Well I'm a major McFly (amazingly popular British band) fan so I learned one of their songs that had barre chords and everything first. haha but you probably shouldn't start with something like that…I know a good McFly song to start with..
The Heart Never Lies (the whole song has like four chords in it)
3Rs by Jack Johnson is easy!
You can take in a CD of the songs you like and your teacher will probably tell you whether you'll be able to play them right away.

An amazing website for guitar tabs is http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/m/mcfly/the_heart_never_lies_crd.htm

and this is the video I learned my first song from even though my teacher had to correct me on a few things because i just copied their fingers hehe http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dRtE4jNUlE

Good Luck! Once you learn a lot of chords its so easy to learn a song (if you know how to play all the chords) in like 10 minutes =)

Here's The Heart Never Lies if you wanna hear it…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQHKHT-wE_Q

Blink 182's songs are very simple on the guitar and easy to learn

  3. ME! Says:

just do a song you like, the first one i learned was what's my age again by blink 182, simple but fun.

the first song i learned was rockstar by nickleback. its actually pretty easy. unless you dont like that song then maybe pick a song you like that sounds easy and have you guitar teacher tab it out. thats what mine does

a good song to start out with would be smoke on water by purple rain

"Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" was my first song. The song's really popular and is used in a lot of different events. Most other Green Day songs aren't too hard to learn, too. Another is "Wake Me Up When September Ends."
"Wonderwall" by Oasis is a very beautiful song and easy to learn.
Blink 182 songs aren't hard, either.
White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army" has such a catchy line, you can't turn it down.
I'm not sure if you like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but you can start on songs like "Scar Tissue" or "Californiation." Their other stuff is kinda hard, though.
A touching song is Shinedown's cover of the Lynyrd Skynrd song "Simple Man." The words to that song are beautiful.

here's a site with tabs….(you can learn how to read tabs on the site)

There are many good songs on there that are easy enough to start on, but good enough to make you look like you've been playing longer than you have.
I hope you have an amazing time starting to play guitar! It's one of the most rewarding things you can do, believe me!

smoke on the water, iron man, then try to learn i miss you by miley cyrus

  8. Sabina D Says:

my first song on guitar was "Seven Nation Army" by The White Stripes, that's like one of the easiest

songs by the bands you've mentioned might be a little too difficult for a beginner I think, so leave them for later =)

    good luck
